Led by Zamboanguita Mayor Kit Marc Adanza, enforcers went to commercial stores in the barangays and tore down stickers and posters depicting cigarettes from March 24 to 25, 2011.
Billboards along the town highways showing smoking were also removed, said Zamboanguita Information Officer Aida Saavedra.

The championship game ended with a 13-2 score in favor of Extreme.
The Dumaguete team's victory this year is a step up from its achievement in last year's games where they emerged first runner-up, with the opposing Team LVM winning by only one point.
Only 13 Extreme team players went to Cebu for the tournament this year due to budgetary constraints. But this did not prevent the team from bagging the championship and walking away with the following awards: Pool A Male Most Valuable Player for Jose Antonio “Tajji” Torres Pasigna and one of the Mythical Seven for Pool A Female to Bea Bianca Vargas Belcina.
The team, in a statement, thanked Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo, Sweyn Ferraren of Botical Real, Vincent Ramirez and Anna Christine Torres-Pasigna of Payag sa Likod Restobar for the support they extended to the team. (RMN/PIA Negros Oriental)

Pantawid Pasada to benefit NegOr tricycle drivers
by: Jennifer Catan-Tilos
DUMAGUETE CITY, Apr 29 (PIA) Negros Oriental tricycle drivers expect to receive a fuel cash assistance from the government’s Pantawid Pasada Program (3Ps) to provide temporary relief from the impact of fuel price hike.
Spearheaded by the Department of Energy (DOE), the program aims to provide assistance to the transport sector, such as jeepneys and tricycles by distributing fuel cards to jeepney operators and drivers to ease their daily fuel expenses.
During the opening of the Pantawid Pasada Communication Program of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) in Manila, Energy Secretary Rene Almendras said this government assistance program designed to help the jeepney and tricycle drivers who are mostly adversely affected by the oil price hikes.
The assistance will come in the form of a fuel card, similar to an ATM loaded with P1,050 for jeepney driver that will be used to purchase diesel from participating gasoline stations.
Almendras said the nationwide public transport assistance program would also benefit around 957,643 tricycle franchise holders although no cards will be issued to them.
Of this target number of tricycles all over the country, Negros Oriental still has to identify the duly registered tricycles by their respective local government units to avail of the assistance.
The DOE will still come up with a definite schedule on the distribution dates for the fuel cash purchase aid of P150 each tricycle driver.
The Energy chief urged the jeepney card holders not to discard the card because it can be used to avail of the P1.50 per liter discount in the transport lane of the oil companies.
This assistance can help the tricycle and jeepney drivers from escalating oil price hikes, especially this summer period when volume of passengers is low due to the school break, Almendras said.
The Pantawid Pasada will initially take off in Metro Manila on Monday, May 2 where the bulk of the public utility jeepneys’ sector in the country is based.
As promulgated by Executive Order No. 32, series of 2011, the “Pantawid Pasada Program” is apoverty reduction and social development strategy of the national government that aims to provide financial assistance to the public transport sector through cash grants to reduce the impact of increasing fuel prices on the riding and consuming public.
