Sibulan senior citizens enjoy cash assistance from local gov't
by Rachelle M. Nessia

DUMAGUETE CITY, May 26 (PIA) --- The municipal government of Sibulan recently distributed its quarterly cash assistance of P750 to each of the town's senior citizens.

Sibulan Mayor Marcela Bartoces led the cash distribution for a total of 2,281 senior citizens in the municipality last week.

The cash grants are in line with Sibulan's Sangguniang Bayan Resolution No. 10-196 and Ordinance No. 12 which amended Ordinance No. 5 that provided for a financial assistance of only P500 for senior citizens, said Sibulan Information Officer Connie Zamora Rosales in an interview.

"It's only in Sibulan where the elderly aged 60 years old and above get to enjoy a financial assistance to subsidize their essential needs," said Rosales.

This goes to show that Sibulan is paying attention to the welfare of its senior citizens, she stressed. "Maybe other towns and cities allocate medicines for their elderlies but not cash assistance like this." (RMN/PIA Negros Oriental)
