LGU optimistic of tourism boost over first five-star hotel in Sibulan

DUMAGUETE CITY, June 6 (PIA) --- The local government of Sibulan has welcomed the construction of a five-star hotel in the municipality, which broke ground on June 4, 2011.
Present during the groundbreaking ceremony were representatives from the municipal government led by Sibulan Mayor Marcela Bartoces.
Sibulan Information Officer Concepcion Rosales said the hotel, located a few meters away from Bravo Golf in Sitio Pancil, Brgy. Looc, will be the first five-star hotel in Negros Oriental.
The Sibulan government is optimistic that the hotel will drive up the tourism traffic in the town, which is adjacent to Dumaguete City, the capital of Negros Oriental.
Rosales said a team was sent earlier to test the soil in said area to determine if the site is strong enough for the planned construction. "Atty. Edilberto Bravo wanted to make sure that the site can hold a 40-room structure and a convention center," she said.

Dumaguete gathers P10M from 7 senators for Dumaguete boardwalk project

DUMAGUETE CITY, June 6 (PIA) Dumaguete City government has gathered more than P10 million from the seven senators for the ongoing construction of the Rizal Boulevard boardwalk project.
City Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria said this time, Senator Manuel Villar offered theP2 million as an additional financial assistance to complete the development of the boulevard.
Other senators shared their Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) for Dumaguete City government includes Juan Miguel Zubiri, TG Guinguna, Francis Pangilian, Ralf Recto and Senator Chiz Escudero, according to Information Officer Steve Gabriel.
Last week, Senator Vicente Sotto III gave also an additional financial assistance of P1 million from his PDAF.
The more than P10M funding assistance from the senators, the mayor said helps a lot for the massive development of the Rizal Boulevard.
Mayor Sagarbarria lauded the help of the senators for the city’s development project, especially the boardwalk project which, is now in full swing construction.
The development along Rizal Boulevard considers as the show window ofDumaguete City.
Meanwhile, Congressman Juan Ponce Castaner Enrile, Jr, representative of the first district of the Cagayan province is schedule to visit Dumaguete City on Thursday.
City Information Officer Steve Gabriel said, Congressman Enrile, expected to pay his courtesy call to Mayor Sagarbarria, prior to his visit from different cities and municipalities in the province.
Congressman Jack Enrile is the original author of Batas Kasambahay or the Magna Carta of Household, author of anti-Trust;increasing the allowable personal and additional exemptions of individual taxpayers; reducing the income tax rates of individual taxpayers; defining the crime of home invasion and among others, said Gabriel.

DUMAGUETE CITY, June 6 (PIA) --- Three public schools in the remote areas of Siaton, Negros Oriental recently received school supplies from the provincial government here in time for the opening of classes this month.
The recipients of the educational materials are Grades 1, 2 and 3 pupils in Brgy. Luwan-Luwan, high school students in Brgy. Calangag and Grades 4, 5 and 6 pupils of Brgy. Candugay.
Siaton is the first town to receive their share of the school supplies from the provincial government under the Health, Education and Livelihood Program (HELP) of Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo.
