NegOr opens LGU-theme exhibit on Aug. 19

DUMAGUETE CITY, Aug. 16 (PIA) The Negros Oriental government has set to open a first local government unit- themed exhibit on August 19 at 5:00 p.m. at Sidlakang Negros Village, this city.
Dubbed as “Vallehermoso: The Beautiful Valley,” exhibit to be presented by the municipality of Vallehermoso through the Provincial Tourism Office to highlight the town and its pride-making assets and achievements.
Senior Tourism Operations Officer Myla Mae Abellana said the exhibit features the Negros Oriental Launching of the coffee table book “Vallehermoso” authored by Ms. Tess Lopez.
Abellana said Governor Roel Degamo and Vallehermoso Mayor Joniper Villegas are expected to grace the exhibit opening and book launching.
Copies of the coffee table book will be on sale at the lobby of Sidkang Negros administrative building.
Local government officials, various government offices, heads of schools and the academic community are expected to witness the activity.
Both the exhibit and coffee table book launching provide accessible opportunities to better get acquainted with the northern town’s rich history, culture and arts, tourist sites, and products including crafts and native delicacies, Abellana added.

Army’s 302 Brigade serves free medical services

DUMAGUETE CITY, Aug. 16 (PIA) The 302nd Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army (PA) together with other health teams of soldiers and reservists has served some 105 residents in a free medical and dental service held this week at Barangay Camanjac, Dumaguete City.
In support of military’s Oplan Bayanihan, a team of soldiers have been rendering these dental and other medical-related services instead of carrying firearms and engaging encounters of rebels.
Civil Military Operations Officer Major Benjamin Aguilan Jr. of PA said, of the total number of barangay -beneficiaries, 25 availed of the free medical consultation, seven children for circumcision, 45 of them received dental check-up and tooth extraction, 15 for massage and 11 free haircut and two blood donors for the bloodletting.
Major Aguilan said the barangay council of Camanjac led by barangay captain has sponsored the medical mission which also supported by the 79th Infantry Battalion, reservists of 703rd Community Defense Center and the REACT medical teams.
Brigade Commander, Colonel Francisco Patrimonio said the medical and dental outreach activities of the brigade are in line with the Armed Forces of the Philippines or AFP’s Bayanihan campaign through the collaborative efforts among the local government units, non-government organizations and local government agencies and in the community which aims to bring the government closer to the people through the delivery of basic services.
“The army will continue to conduct and participate in these activities to provide free health services to the people as part of addressing peace and order,” said Col. Patrimonio.
The recent medical service was also participated in by Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (NOPPO) and other volunteer health providers, Aguilan said. (PIA NegOr/JCT)
