DUMAGUETE CITY, July 17 (PIA) -- The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) here granted land certificates to 13 farmers in a 10.6-hectare landholding formerly owned by Trison’s Development Corporation in San Jose town, Negros Oriental.
DAR distributed certificates of land ownership to the farmers during an installation ceremony held July 10.
Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer II Stephen Leonidas, in his message, encouraged the farmer-beneficiaries to develop their lands by availing of the projects and programs offered by the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA).
He also stressed the farmers’ obligations and responsibilities, particularly in paying their taxes to the government and the annual amortization of their land to the Landbank of the Philippines.
The event was also attended by Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer I Lumel Chiu along with staff from DAR provincial office and San Jose.
DAR also distributed lands last June to 13 farmer-beneficiaries in Brgy. Maningcao, Sibulan from an eight-hectare landholding formerly owned by Julieta Pintor. (RMN/PIA Negros Oriental)
