Negrenses invited to join search for outstanding volunteer

DUMAGUETE CITY, July 25 (PIA) --- The National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) in Region 7 is inviting Negrenses to submit nominations for this year’s nationwide Search for Outstanding Volunteer (SOV). 

SOV is launched by the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) to recognize the exemplary performance and dedication to service by individual Filipino volunteers and institutions doing volunteer work to build strong communities across the country. 

The search is open to all Filipino citizens and Filipino volunteer organizations or local chapter-organizations of foreign volunteer groups that currently provide volunteer assistance in the Philippines. 

Two types of awards will be given, namely the National Outstanding Volunteer Award (NOVA) for Individual and Organization categories, and Volunteer Lifetime Achievement Award (VLAA). 

There are two categories under NOVA, which is the Individual category for youth and adult. 

Deadline for submission of nominations is on17 August 2012. The presenting of awards is in Manila during the NVM celebration in December 2012. 

NEDA-7 Regional Director Buenaventura Go-Soco, who also chairs the search’s regional screening committee, also invited the Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo to nominate qualified candidates within the provincial government. 

PNVSCA is an agency mandated to promote and coordinate volunteer programs and services in the country. (RMN/PIA Negros Oriental)
