DUMAGUETE CITY, Sept. 11 (PIA) --- A top official from the Department of Tourism (DOT) is set to grace the Negros Oriental Tourism Summit in Dumaguete City on Sept. 21, 2012 as the summit's keynote speaker.
DOT Undersecretary for Planning and Promotions Daniel G. Corpuz is expected to talk about the importance of public-private partnership during the summit that marks the 3rd Tourism Educators Congress in the province, according to SPUD Director for External Affairs Rafael Arbon Duhaylungsod.
Gov. Roel Degamo earlier invited Sec. Corpuz to be the keynote speaker during the congress.
"The undersecretary is also expected to discuss the importance of tourism roadmap and development plans at the local government units,” said Duhaylungsod.
Camarines Sur Gov. Luis Raymund Villafuerte was also invited to present CamSur's success story on the province's tourism projects, particularly on the governor's Sports-Tourism initiatives on newly-discovered CamSur tourism destinations.
Bohol Gov. Edgardo M. Chatto is also expected to grace the summit and share Bohol's "tourism experience" and how the private sector in his province plays a key role in boosting Bohol's tourism industry.
The summit hosted by Foundation University will gather tourism stakeholders, partners, educators, students, and officials from local government units, as well as mayors, legislators, and tourism officers.
Duhaylungsod said the Tourism Educators Congress here was started in 2010 by St. Paul University Dumaguete (SPUD) through its Office of the External Affairs.
The annual congress and provincial tourism week celebration is under the management of the Tourism Educators Council of Negros Oriental and Siquijor provinces in collaboration with the Negros Oriental Tourism Office. (RMN/PIA NegOr/with reports from SPUD Office of External Affairs)
