DUMAGUETE CITY, Oct 2 (PIA) -- The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in Negros Oriental announced that they are still accepting applicants in the province for the manpower needs of Samsung Engineering in Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi and Qatar.
Jose Ramon Benedicto, focal person of PESO Negros Oriental, said Samsung Engineering is still pooling manpower for several skilled jobs such as building foreman, crane operators, forklift operators, plumbers, welders, carpenters, electricians, structural fitters, etc.
Human Resource Part Leader Alex E. Andrino of Samsung Engineering Saudi Arabia Co., Ltd., has offered the best compensation package for workers, said Benedicto.
"They are the leading engineering company who designed and constructed towers in some parts of the globe," he said.
Interested applicants are advised to contact the province's PESO office for requirements and application details.
Benedicto revealed that after the September 7 and 8 recruitment at his office, there are now a total of 160 qualified applicants scheduled for final interview by Samsung Engineering.
The interview will be held in Manila on October 25 to 27 and conducted by a Korean team of delegates.
"We hope that Samsung will deploy them all," said Benedicto.
The PESO officer said he is negotiating with Samsung Engineering for the possibility of holding the interview in Dumaguete City instead of Manila via Skype.
"This will help cut down the transportation costs of our applicants," he said, adding that he hopes to finalize the interview details next week. (RMN-PIA7 Negros Oriental)

Negros Oriental launches bid for chance to host 2013 Palarong Pambansa
By Rachelle M. Nessia
DUMAGUETE CITY, Oct 2 (PIA) -- Negros Oriental launched yesterday its bid to host next year’s annual Palarong Pambansa sports event.
Provincial and local government officials here joined around 5,000 students in a jam-packed Lamberto Macias Sports and Cultural Complex yesterday to show their support to the province’s campaign to host the national sports event in April next year.
A short program was held inside the complex to show the unified support given by the local governments, private and public schools, and the Department of Education (DepEd) here.
The launching highlighted by cheers, pom-poms, a cultural presentation, confetti and speeches from government officials and Dumaguete-born Olympian archer Jennifer Chan was filmed and will be shown when local DepEd officials formally present their bid at DepEd Manila on October 8.
In his speech, Gov. Roel Degamo said the province is “more than ready” to host the Palaro Pambansa next year.
“We have state-of-the-art facilities here as well as playing venues that are within a 10-kilometer radius,” said Degamo.
He added that the province’s uninterrupted power, excellent peace and order situation and capable police enforcers, efficient public transportation system and safe and clean quarters for delegates and athletes are among the facilities and services that the province is offering for its bid.
Negros Oriental has long been vying to host the national sports event in the past years but has yet to actually host it.
Degamo said hosting the event will be a huge milestone for the province.
Provincial Schools Division Superintendent Salustiano Jimenez said the event is expected to bring in between 12,000 to 15,000 athletes.
“If we host this, this will also benefit us economically. Once the delegations are here, they will spend money and visit our tourist spots as well,” said Jimenez.
He disclosed that Negros Occidental is the other province in the Visayas contending for the chance to host Palaro.
“But Negros Occidental has hosted Palaro many times, so we are hoping that we will win the bid for 2013. I told the DepEd central office that they have already tried Negros Occidental, so why not try Negros Oriental now?” said Jimenez. (RMN-PIA7 Negros Oriental)
