One-stop-shop for biz permit opens at Dumaguete City Hall
By Jennifer C. Tilos

DUMAGUETE CITY, Jan. 11 (PIA) -- The local government unit of Dumaguete City now opens its Business One-Stop-Shop (BOSS) to more than 4,000 companies in the city.

Dumaguete City Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria said, BOSS is a system in which all government agencies involved in the processing of business permits are gathered in one area inside the city hall.

Business owner-operators will then have an easy time processing their business permit applications or renewals because they need not go to the offices of the said agencies to have their permits processed, said Sagarbarria.

More than 4,000 business firms are expected to avail of BOSS.

For the city government, the departments directly participating in the one-stop shop include the permit section, City Veterinary Office, City Environment and Natural Resources, City Engineering Office, and the Office for City Health Services.

Meanwhile, the national line agencies involved in the program are the Social Security System (SSS), PhilHealth, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

City Administrator William Ablong said the project, launched in October 2010, showed significant performance especially in reducing time in processing business permit.

He said the creation of BOSS in Dumaguete is a relevant step towards sustaining employment, which is foremost in President Benigno Aquino’s Agenda to create a friendly investment environment in every province.

Ablong thus reminded business owners that the BOSS is being conducted only in the first month of every year. (FCR/JCT-PIA 7, Negros Oriental)
