DUMAGUETE CITY, May 16 (PIA) -- Law violators in Dumaguete be warned: the Special Action Group Advocating for Rapid Reforms or Task Force SAGARR, the newly-created "super body" to enforce the laws and ordinances in the city, will now run after you.
This after the task force members officially started its operations following a three-day seminar-workshop from May 10 to 12, 2011 at the City Session Hall.
City Administrator William Ablong, who sits at the helm of the task force as its ground commander, said that Task Force SAGARR enforcers promise to put teeth in the implementation of laws and ordinances in the city.
"The enforcers pledged to enforce laws and ordinances in the city with audacity, and to execute them with might, without fear or favor, to further its purpose and advance the interests of the city gentle people," said Ablong in a statement from the Dumaguete City Information Office.
Ablong said the task force will run after violators of the various ordinances in the city, such as hot meat or double dead meat, chemically contaminated vegetables and stray animals, anti-smoking campaign, solid waste management, sanitation and food safety, truancy, anti-vagrancy, anti-mendicancy, prostitution, massage parlors, KTV Bars, anti-squatting and idle lots, updated tax ordinance, business permit, omnibus tax ordinance, illegal and sidewalk vendors, traffic, road hazards and obstruction, Market Code and Updated Tax Ordinance, sale of liquor, curfew, cyber space, night blocks and board and lodging houses.
Created by virtue of Executive Order No. 10 signed by Dumaguete Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria in September last year, the task force was organized to address constraints in enforcing and executing the laws and ordinances in the city.
The task force is broken down into 11 teams that will spearhead the enforcement of the following ordinances: Meat/Fish/Vegetable Inspection, Stray Dogs, Hot Meat Pursuit, Anti-Smoking Campaign, Sanitation and Food Safety, Integrated Solid Waste Management, Anti-Indecency, Truancy, Anti-Vagrancy, Anti-Mendicancy, Anti-Squatting and Idle Lot Ordinance, Updated Tax Ordinance, Business/Mayor's Permit, Omnibus Tax Ordinance, Illegal Vendors and Sidewalk/Ambulant Vendors, Traffic, Road Hazards and Obstructions, Market Code, Sale of Liquor, Curfew, Cyberspace, Nightclubs/Karaoke Bar Ordinance and Board and Lodging Houses Accreditation Ordinance. P45-M released to NegOr Pantawid Pamilya recipients for Jan-Feb payout
by: Rachelle M. Nessia
DUMAGUETE CITY, May 16 (PIA) --- More than P45-M in cash grants have already been released to beneficiaries of the government's anti-poverty program in Negros Oriental for the January to February cash payout this year.
Bella Tse, the provincial coordinator of the government's Pantawid Pamilya program, said that a total of P45,239,500 have been disbursed to the program's recipient families in 17 local government units in the province.
The amount accounts for 82% of the P54,801,800 allocated for the household beneficiaries in the three districts here for the two-month allotment.
The release of the cash grants have been delayed due to the late arrival of the payroll. "We received the payroll only in April and we need time to negotiate with our partners in releasing the money," explained Tse during a Kapihan forum held May 12 by the Philippine Information Agency in Dumaguete City.
Tse said the local partners of the Deparment of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) - the government agency implementing the Pantawid Pamilya Program - in disbursing the cash grants are Land Bank of the Philippines and G-Cash thru local merchant Pick & Carry.
G-Cash is a micropayment service of Globe Telecommunications which is being utilized by DSWD in handing out the cash aid to beneficiaries in areas far from Land Bank.
"For areas that either have a Land Bank branch or is near one, they can claim their grants there. But for areas that are far from Land Bank such as Manjuyod, Mabinay and Zamboanguita, we use G-Cash," said Tse. (RMN/PIA Negros Oriental)
