DUMAGUETE CITY, Sept 13 (PIA) -- The Philippine Civil Service Commission (PCSC-7) held a two-day seminar on Strategic Performance Management System (SPMS) and gender sensitivity for faculty and staff of the Negros Oriental State University (NORSU).

The activity, which marked the local celebration of PCSC's 112th anniversary in government service, was held September 10-14 and was attended by 40 personnel from NORSU, said Dr. Joy Perez, NORSU Information Officer.

PCSC- 7 Director Judith Chicano, in her discussion during the seminar, said the SPMS is a "shared understanding of what will be achieved, what are our goals, how are these achieved and above all, how well people are managed."

Said system emphasized on organizational effectiveness in government institutions with focus on performance and management.

She further said that under this system, teamwork and collaboration should be encouraged, as well as information system and communication plans in government entities.

During the gender sensitivity on the second day, gender and development issues were discussed with Chicano and Daylin Quillano serving as facilitators.

In a statement, Dr. Peter Dayot, acting vice president for NORSU administration, said that government employees, especially working for state universities, should strive for quality performance as this is mandated under PNoy's Social Contract.

Pres. Benigno Aquino III's social contract outlines his administration's platform of government which "embraces the qualities of integrity, humility and trust-worthiness in public leadership." (RMN-PIA7 Negros Oriental)
