DUMAGUETE CITY, Sept 13 (PIA) -- The provincial government of Negros Oriental is inviting barangays in the province to join the streetdancing, showdown and gimmick booths in this year's Buglasan Festival of Festivals.

This is the first time that the provincial government has opened said activities for barangays to participate in.

The festival's theme this year is "Negros Oriental: Gearing Towards Sustainable Growth."

Gov. Roel Degamo, in a press conference held at the Sidlakang Negros Village Conference Room, invited the LGUs and barangays in the province to join and send delegates to the activities during the festival.

In the previous years, only local government units (LGUs) competed in the Buglasan street dancing and showdown and the gimmick booths contest.

The booths contest, now named LGU-Industrial Booth/Exhibits/Gimmicks, is also open for interested local corporations and industries. They will be set up at the Freedom Park area.

The annual Buglasan Festival of Festivals will kick off on October 12 this year with a city-wide civic-military parade at 2 p.m. followed by an ecumenical service and opening salvo production at the Capitol Forecourt Stage.

The streetdancing and showdown, which are among the festival's higlights, will be on October 19 with the showdown to start at 8 a.m. at the Lamberto Macias Sports and Cultural Complex and the streetdance at 2 p.m. (RMN-PIA7 Negros Oriental)
