Mabinay’s chicken pork lemon grass menu wins cooking contest

DUMAGUETE CITY, Oct 16 (PIA) -- The chicken pork lemon grass recipe of Mabinay town in Negros Oriental was declared first prize winner of the 11 recipes that competed in the seventh grand cook fest “Buglasan Lutong Garbo” on October 13 at the Sidlakan Negros Village in Dumaguete City.
Tony Lacorte Ehera, first placer chef, presented his menu with delectable and creative way of cooking.
Ehera received a cash prize of P10,000 and a trophy from Lutong Garbo committee of the Buglasan Festival directorate led by Chair Sylvia Uy.
While Hardinero de Fruta of the municipality of Amlan with cook Marites Ebasan got the second place with a cash prize of P7,000 and a trophy. Ebasan was also the third placer in the 2011 cooking competition.
Laing con Carne (A la Negros) of Sibulan town with cook Carlito Calda got the third place and received P5,000 with a trophy.
Other eight non-winners receive P2,500 each as consolation prize.
The Lutong Garbo winners were proclaimed by the board of judges composed of local culinary experts Pepita Villacora, Katherine Fontelo and Wilfreda Villalon. (MBCN/JCT/PIA-Negros Oriental)
