The outreach campaign was held in the barangays of Carol-an (June 20), Nabhang (June 21) and Mabato (June 27), which are said to be the remotest villages in Ayungon town and shares the provincial boundary with Kabankalan town of Negros Occidental.

Remote village residents avail of free health services in NegOr
By Rachelle M. Nessia
DUMAGUETE CITY, July 3 (PIA) -- Hundreds of residents in a remote barangay in Siaton town availed of free health services during a recent medical mission held by the provincial government here.
Residents of Sitio Salingkubong, Brgy. Tayak on June 16 benefited from the free medical and dental services offered by health officials from the provincial government and the Philippine Army here.
The various medical services offered include free consultation and medicines, tooth extraction, circumcision, massage, among others.
The provincial government has been holding medical missions in far-flung areas in the province to bring health services closer to the residents.
Capitol Information Officer Adrian Sedillo said the medical mission is a way to address the health needs of Negrenses particularly those in hinterland areas living far from health centers and hospitals.
He added that Sitio Salingkubong and nearby villages reportedly continue to face threats to internal peace and security and the medical mission will help establish the strong presence of the government in the area.
“Kini gikinahanglan aron mapadayag ngadto sa mga katawhan nga gatagad ang kagamhanan sa ilang mga panginahanglan. (The medical mission will show to the residents there that the government remains responsive to their needs),” said Sedillo.
The provincial government also led a medical mission on March 21 this year to the once rebel-infested area of Sitio Avocado, Brgy. Talalak, Sta. Catalina, which was once a hotbed of insurgency in the early 1990’s. (RMN-PIA7 Negros Oriental)
