DUMAGUETE CITY, Nov. 15 (PIA) --The Philippine Orthopedic Society is set to turn over free prosthetic legs to identified beneficiaries in Negros Oriental.

This after Philippine Orthopedic Center chaplain Fr. Arnold Abelardo recently visited Negros Oriental to inform Gov. Roel Degamo of the society’s plan to donate around 100 free artificial legs.

Capitol Information Officer Adrian Sedillo said that amputees who will benefit from the prosthetic limb are now being identified and listed, after which they will be measured on November 30.

Based on records from the province’s Public Employment Services Office, there are to date 88 amputees who have been identified and have passed the initial screening.

Gov. Degamo said the free prosthetic legs is a big help in addressing the needs of the persons with disabilities (PWD) sector in the province.

Sedillo said the turn over of the artificial legs is scheduled to be done in February next year. (RMN/PIA Negros Oriental)
