DUMAGUETE CITY, July 1 (PIA) -- Newly-elected Negros Oriental Gov. Roel R. Degamo vowed to keep health, education, and employment among his priorities in the next three years of his service to Negrenses.

Degamo emphasized this in his speech during his inauguration rites yesterday at the Provincial Convention Center.

He said that his administration will continue to give health scholarships to those who aspire to pursue a career in medical profession since more health practitioners are needed in the province.

He also assured that the provincial government will continue to build classrooms in different parts of the province and generate jobs for the people.

“Those who want a job, will have a job,” Degamo assured Negresenses.

Degamo said these agendas are in line with his flagship program “Sa Probinsiya, Mag-Degamo ta!” which stands for Health, Education, Livelihood, Peace and Development programs (HELP).

He also appealed for cooperation and unity for other provincial government officials in serving Negrenses.

Degamo was with his wife and other family members when he took his oath before Negros Oriental Regional Trial Court Branch 33 Judge Fe Lualhati Bustamante.

In his speech after his oath taking, Degamo said: “It is now the time to come together. It is now the time to bring values in service. It is now the time to put the people first than politics. I am willing to listen and work with those who can give right solutions to the problems of all citizens of Negros Oriental.”

Degamo also extended his friendship and cooperation to elected Vice Gov. Mark Macias who won under a different party.

Degamo ran under PDP-Laban in the last elections while Macias was with the Liberal Party.

In a press conference following his inaugural rites, Degamo disclosed that he and Macias have already talked and the latter expressed his ideas to give better service to the people.

Aside from the Gov. Degamo, 1st District Board member Liland Estacion and 3rd District Board Member Edmund Dy together with mayors and other elected officials of Vallehermoso and Basay towns also took their oath before Judge Bustamante yesterday. (rmn/RAL/PIANEGOR)
