NegOr PDRRMC undergoes ICS training to mitigate disasters

NEGROS ORIENTAL, July 5 (PIA) -- The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) of Negros Oriental will hold a Basic Intermediate Course on Incident Command System (ICS) on July 10 to 12 at the Provincial Convention Center, Dumaguete City.

The three-day training is part of the continuing efforts of the provincial government to strengthen its capabilities to mitigate and prevent any disaster risks when calamities occur in the province.

Governor Roel Degamo said more than 50 PDRRMC members and local officials including the rescue teams are expected to participate in the training to prepare and respond to the needs of affected areas when disaster takes place.

“As we continue to aim for zero casualties during the emergency situations, participants are encouraged to actively join the activity to equip them the knowledge and tools necessary to address any disaster,” said Gov. Degamo.

The training course involved modules on introduction to ICS, ICS Organization and Staffing, ICS Incident Facilities, Organization and Managing Incidents and Events, Incident/Event Assessment and Management by Objectives, Incident Resources and Resources Management, Incident and Event Planning and Transfer of Command, Demobilization and Closeout.

The ICS ensures a systematic and orderly response in time of emergencies and disasters. (mbcn/JCT/PIA7-Negros Oriental)
